Like the title says - we will deal here with numbers that describe the world of fireworks.

• Largest firework display was held on November 10, 2012 in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Kuwait's constitution. It consisted of 77,282 firework projectiles that were launched at a stretch 5km long and fireworks lasted for 64 minutes. Previous record was set in Portugal on December 2006, when pyrotechnics experts set off 66326 fireworks projectiles.

• The largest firework rocket had 13.4 kg and was 7m long. It was made and launched by Associação Nacional de Empresas de Produtos Explosivos from Portugal. Firing was done on 12th International Symposium on      Fireworks in Oporto and Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, on October 13, 2010.

• It can take about 100 hours to plan a 25 minute fireworks show.

• In 2012, in the United States, there were 8700 injuries that were caused by fireworks and required treatment at a hospital.

• In the United Kingdom it is illegal to sell fireworks to anyone younger than 18 years of age. Person that does that can expect maximum penalty of £5000 and/or six months in prison.

• Firework rocket can reach speeds of 240kmh and height of 200m.

• Half of all injuries caused by fireworks are to children under the age of 16.

• The most firework rockets launched in 30 seconds is 125801. They were organized by Pyroworks International Inc. from Philippine, and were launched in Cebu, Philippines, on May 8, 2010.

• Largest Catherine wheel had a diameter of 32m and was burned on June 18, 2011 on the evening of the annual festival of Our Lady of the Lilies on Malta.

• In United Kingdom it is illegal to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am. During the Guy Fawkes Night “curfew” is moved to begin in midnight.

• It is estimated that there are as many as 50000 Americans who legally produce their own fireworks as a hobby.

• Most of the world fireworks come from China. How much that is - no one can say for sure.

• Citizens of United States buy somewhere around 90 million kilograms of fireworks every year.

• In Britain is illegal to let off any firework in a public place. This carries a fine of up to £5000.

• The world's longest firework waterfall was the “Niagara Falls”. It was fired on August 23, 2008 at the Ariake Seas Fireworks Festival, Fukuoka, Japan.

• San Diego’s Big Bay Boom 4 July celebration in 2012, software malfunction activated all 7000 fireworks at once. Show that was planned to last for 17 minutes lasted 15 seconds. Luckily - no one was injured.

• 61% of 2010 emergency room fireworks-related injuries in the United States were to the extremities.

• In Britain is (of course) illegal to cause unnecessary suffering to animals with fireworks. Maximum penalty can be £5,000 and/or six months in prison.

• The Pyrotechnics Guild International, Inc. (PGI) is founded in 1969 and has around 3500 members. It is an independent worldwide nonprofit organization of amateur and professional fireworks enthusiasts.
